The Beautiful Trails Around Paisley
May 20, 2010
7 years ago, I began my first experience with town living. I was quickly corrected. This is not a town. It is a “village”. Ah! So the experience began. As I have done with all things, I threw myself into the experience and have enjoyed so much it. (A small town (village) lifestyle can take some adjusting to. ) However, that being said, I have often found myself comparing living on my previous 200 acres to my current 200 acres and I think I lucked out. Paisley is just beautiful.
Often in the evenings, my family enjoys a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk on the trails behind the dike. There are a variety of birds out there where the grassy trail winds alongside the river. The children clamber on the big trees that hang over the river and often “take the leap!” I am constantly awed and thankful to our municipal government for seeing fit to maintain these trails using our tax dollars. They don’t have to. But it is so nice that they do.
When we first moved to the village, the old rail bed sat sad and abandoned, but just in the last couple of years that has been reconstructed and it is just lovely to trip-trap on the high bridges over the river. The lushous green trees blow in the wind far below but safe behind sturdy railings, I am able to walk or bike and admire. The trails go deep into the country and if it feels like heaven to me, I can’t imagine the reaction of some city dweller.
Every visit leaves me feeling in awe of the privelege I have to live in this wonderful tow. . . village.
