ANOTHER AWESOME SHOW AT BACK EDDIES

September 24, 2010

Bob Robb with Ryan Baer Friday Sept 24

Bob Robb has been performing musical and spoken arts for many years. As he puts it on his web site www.bobrobb.com he is a Poet, Sailor, Songwriter, Musician, Filmmaker, Thinker. When he drops into the cafe I’m always happy to see he’s in town and he always has an interesting comment on the happenings going on in his life. His musings, be they musical or poetic started very early and continue to this day. He has played with many amazing musicians but has chosen to always be on the move as a seaman in far corners of the world or experiencing the North and the incredible ways of native culture. His travels have given him much material to work with and have introduced him to many different musical styles and instruments all of which he has embraced.

Speaking of many instruments. Jim and I met Ryan Baer this summer at the Keady market. He was set up with a plethora of instruments around him, fiddle, cello, banjo, guitar, harmonica and there were more. He played many of them at the same time. After enjoying his performance for a while we commented to ourselves on how it would be neat to have him and Bob Robb get together for a gig at our place. So we approached him, introduced ourselves and before presenting our idea he said hey I met this fellow Bob Robb and he said I should get together with him and play at Back Eddie’s. So we just basically said O.K. Ryan is young but extremely talented. He plays on his own and with a group of musicians that call themselves The Haret. www.myspace.com/theharet. I look forward to finding out more about him and to listening to more of his music. From what I’ve been able to research he has competed in songwriting contests down in the Kitchener area
The 1st annual Waterloo Songwriting Competition (The Grad House Uof W)
1st place – $1500 cash provided by The Grad House and Wellington Breweries
Congratulations to Ryan Baer for winning first place! and plays at farmers markets- maybe other locations too as a busker. I was able to find a few clips on youtube so do have a listen in.

The show will be in the Sticks & Stones Lounge (the gallery at Back Eddie’s) and doors will open at 7:30. “Eddieables” will be available ( not licensed ). Tickets are $15 inclusive.

More information and tickets available at Back Eddie’s - 660 Queen St. – right at the bridge downtown. Also by emailing or calling 519-353-4787. Hope you make it. Like I mentioned previously, it’s going to be fun.

PAISLEY FALL FAIR THIS WEEKEND!

September 9, 2010

The Paisley Agricultural Society is proud to host the 154th Fall Fair in 2010. Paisley is located in the heart of Bruce County, with the fairgrounds located along the beautiful Saugeen River. We extend a warm invitation to you and your family to join us.

The Paisley Agricultural Society is a non-profit organization run by volunteers, who work very hard each year to put on the Fair. The Fair consists of all types of competitions for all ages in baking, flowers, preserves, quilts, crafts, fruits and vegetables, plus added children’s competitions for pets and decorated bicycles. We have 4-H shows in beef, dairy and saddle horses and an extensive draft horse show covering several breeds. The agricultural focus of the fair is also an opportunity for our urban families to connect with rural living.

The Society continues to work hard to make changes to our Fair in order to make it informative, educational and fun for families and all who attend. Change and a willingness to be innovative has been a critical part of our past success, as we continue to evolve and improve our event.

Our Ambassador for 2009-2010 is Fawn Meyer. She was crowned at opening ceremonies prior to the 2009 fair and will continue to represent the fair until Sept. 11th, 2010.

For more information about the Ambassador competition, eligibility and opportunities, see Our People and refer to Ambassador.

The 2010 Fall Fair will be primarily during the evening of Saturday, September 11th and the main fair day is all day Sunday, September 12th. Please refer to the 2010 Schedule of Events to plan your visit to the fair.
