“…one of the most beautiful voices I have had the pleasure to listen to.” – David Francey …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Tannis Slimmon was named Contemporary Vocalist of the Year by the Canadian Folk Music Awards! Her latest album ‘Lucky Blue’ has made waves with a 2008 Independent Music Award for the opening track ‘Ernest, Charlie & Allan’ and a nomination for ‘Best Album’. The album has also been selected as one of the top 10 ‘Critics’ Albums of the Year’ by Canadian Folk Music Magazine ‘Penguin Eggs’ and won a ‘Golden Quill’ award for songwriting. Producer Lewis Melville was nominated for Canadian Folk Music Award’s Producer of the Year.
With musical roots firmly planted in the soil of the Canadian Prairies and the ever-burgeoning music scene in Guelph, Ontario, and with a passion for lyrical vocal harmonies, Tannis Slimmon has been singing, songwriting, recording and touring locally and internationally for over 25 years.
After working with numerous bands including the critically acclaimed female trio The Bird Sisters, her solo career was launched in 2001 with the release of ‘Oak Lake’, followed up in the summer of 2007 by ‘Lucky Blue’, a rich offering of songs and artwork influenced by recent travels to Mali, West Africa and Cuba.
You will find Tannis’ name on over 74 albums, contributing songs or singing harmonies for others including Willie P. Bennett, Valdy and Rheostatics. Tannis plays guitar and mandolin. She has performed at folk clubs, festivals and community centres across Canada and into the US. Her music can be heard on public and college radio across North America.

• The car radio broke. That’s when Jude Vadala started singing.
First she bought an autoharp, then a piano, then a guitar, a mandolin, another guitar and then a fiddle, all of which hang on her kitchen wall. Except the piano. It’s in her living room.
Jude has been a tenacious member of the Guelph, Ontario music scene for the past 30 years. Her musical adventures have taken her across Canada and the U.S. with the critically acclaimed group The Bird Sisters where she honed her skills as a songwriter and recording artist.
She has produced four albums (Flo, Different Stories, She and She and She, Angel Songs) and has worked on over 50 musical projects with artists such as Tannis Slimmon, James Gordon, Harri Palm, Jah Youssouf and Lewis Melville, Katherine Wheately and Scott Merritt. See Blog for More Shameless Name Dropping.
She is currently a member of the Wintersong Trio trio with well-known singer-songwriters Tannis Slimmon and Katherine Wheatley.
Jude is now an in demand music teacher. As well she does workshops in harmony and songwriting.
After taking a very long break from recording, Jude will be releasing her fifth album called Do You Ever in November 2010.

Katherine Wheatley has been a regular at folk festivals, concert series and clubs across Canada since the release of her first CD. As well as her own career, she is a member of the Toronto band, Betty and the Bobs; is a guitarist in Wendell Ferguson’s trio “The Smoking Section”; she presents songwriting, vocal and independent music career workshops at schools, folk clubs and music stores across Canada; and she is the currently the ambassador for the campaign to raise six million dollars for the new hospital in her home town of Parry Sound, Ontario.
Katherine’s music has been used for documentaries, tv series and films. Among numerous radio and television appearances, she has been a featured vocalist on Stuart McLean’s Vinyl Cafe, as well as a musical guest on Morningside with Peter Gzowski, This Morning with Bernard St. Laurent, TVO’s Studio Two, and CBC Radio’s Vicki Gabareau Show. She performed her song “On A Beach In France” on CTV’s Canada AM and Good Morning Canada to commemorate the anniversary of Dieppe.
According to the Toronto Star, Katherine Wheatley “turns pebbles of every day life into dreamy mountains of song”. Warren Footz from SEE Magazine in Edmonton wrote “As a listener, it’s hard not to sit back, close your eyes and watch the movie play. And man, can this serene red head ever play guitar”.
