Musical Ride was Amazing Evening for Paisley

June 20, 2012

Claire GreggWe all knew it would be amazing and we were not disappointed. The Paisley Ag Society has given us roots and wings here in Paisley. Tonight we were flying and it felt so good. 1000′s of people nicely settled around the ring described by one of the RCMP riders as one of the best in Canada.

It was lovely to see the up and coming Musical Ride Riders. The show before the show was certainly entertaining and inspiring.

A special event was the recognition of Craig Budreau (Advocate Editor) as Guest of Honor. How suitable! And we can’t forget that Mary Ellen is right by his side editting and keeping track of the money. This couple is a wonderful icon in the village and we can all be so thankful to know such people.

Thank-you to everyone involved (including the Beautification Committee) in making this night a special and historical event for Paisley. Everyone, who knows how much work these things take, walked away in awe. Congratulations on a job well done!

Community Garden Opportunity

May 30, 2012

We have one more plot available for a gardening opportunity ($15):

call Sibylle Walke 353-7108 or Marie Cottrill 353-5835
Also we are looking for a small  shelter to store some tools and which could be removed to higher ground in the fall.
If anyone has such a structure to donate , please let us know.

The Paisley Community Garden started in 2006 as a congenial collaboration between half a dozen Paisleyites looking for an appropriate space to grow vegetables and a landowner willing to provide it. A small fee of  $15 -$25 is charged to buy and maintain  common supplies ( fencing etc) Gardeners  commit to looking after their own  plot as well as spending some time  at the common tasks . Individually this amounts to about 10 hours per year and brings the gardeners together in work bees . Fun meetings such as the harvest potluck or entries to the Fall fair have also been a driver. To date, everybody of the 12 -15 gardening parties has been contributing  in some way. The group is fairly informal and switches the administration (e-mail updates ) to different members.

To take a look at the garden, Pass the gate to the walking path at the south of Rotary park along the Saugeen River. (at the end of Inkerman Street)
