MORGAN DAVIS

For nearly four decades Morgan Davis has been on the road travelling across Canada, the United States and Europe. His performances draw from a rich tradition of country blues, as well as his own contemporary songs infused with wit and a large dose of humor.
“Morgan’s deep resonating voice and true-to-the-roots guitar work make a great combination. Anyone who appreciates straight-up blues delivered with taut, tough intensity and a good dose of humour will love Morgan Davis. “Simply stated, for my money, he is one of Canada’s best bluesmen.” James Doran, Ottawa Blues Society.
Over the years he has had the privilege of opening for Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, John Hammond, Albert Collins, and Eric Bibb. A highlight of his career was backing the phenomenal Dr.John. Morgan has shared the stage with Colin Linden, who also produced his second album, James Harmon, Gene Taylor, Sue Foley, Ray Bonneville, Carlos DelJunco and the late Dutch Mason.
Davis has established a rich career as a solo artist, and also performs with stellar lineups of musicians as a trio or full band. His most recent recording, “At Home In Nova Scotia”, pays homage to Atlantic Canada where he has been a resident since 2001.

Thank-you to Alicia Mariano who was the chairperson of the event and decorated the bridge and Paisley signs. Thanks to Jenn Maxwell (Daydream Believers) who arranged and housed the gift baskets for the month of April. Taylor and Brandon Trelford assited Alicia with tying the cookie bag giveaways. Thanks to Shannon Wood (Saugeen Conservation) who arranged that we could have the sap buckets and the maple leaves for decorations and handed out the passport at the festival. Thank-you to the many businesses who contributed to the gift baskets. We hope that the fruit of it will be a furtherance to your business. It takes many people to create every event and even more than are mentioned here. Thanks to you all. That’s the good news.
The bad news is. . . there were JUST 3 people in the village that completed the passports (out of 2000). This tells us we may be lacking in a bit of community engagement! ( if you say, “ya think?” remember this. You too, are part of this community) But the good news is, it was easy to decide who got the $200 baskets. Our president, Sandra Blodgett’s name was pulled first but she didn’t want to win because she created the program so since the $200 worth of goods were already divided into two baskets, we simply gave one basket to each of the two runner-ups.
We know there were others in the village that started the program but for some reason didn’t finish. We thank-you for trying. We assure you that we will consider doing this again with simpler rules. . and if Sandra has her way, there will a clear rule that everyone is allowed to participate (especially business owners and village residents) and may certainly win whatever the prize may be. The prizes will be smaller and there will be more of them so there will be lots of winners.
Our BR&E indicates that we could use more support one business to another and more support from the residents living in the village. Thankfully, there are many, like Kim Robinson and Gladys Teeple that go out of the way to put their money where their home is and we hope to see that as an upward rising trend because Paisley has so much to offer.
Paisley! Home Sweet Home!
