Greetings! My name is Laura Fullerton and I am the current Paisley Fall Fair Ambassador! But… not for much longer! This years 159th fair is right around the corner, and I could not be more excited!
For those with the competition bug and know how much fun it can be to participate in the home craft competition, Saturday morning is very busy at the Palace! Bring your exhibits down to the Rotary Park Palace before 12:00 noon. Make sure to have your entry form and tags filled out before arriving at the Palace, to make the morning go smoother!
The opening ceremonies kick off the fair starting at 7pm on Saturday September 12th. During this event, my favourite part of the fair takes place….. the Ambassador Competition! This year, we have a great competition organized with 2 wonderful girls entered, vying for the chance to be the Paisley Fall Fair Ambassador! Also on Saturday night, there is an auction of selected first place exhibits, including pies, pickles, bbq sauce, flower arrangements and much more! This is an exciting event- don’t miss it!
Sunday September 13th is the main day of the Paisley Fall Fair. At 9:00 am, the gates and exhibit hall open! At 10:00, the Community Church Service commences. This church service takes place in the entertainment tent, and is filled with wonderful music that floats through the fairgrounds. Also at 10:00, the famous heavy horse show begins. The horse program starts off with line classes, and moves into hitch classes after lunch. Be sure to watch the popular Six Horse Hitch class around 2:00. At 11:30, the beef and dairy cattle shows start, in ball diamond B. Be sure to venture down to this portion of the fair. Don’t forget to grab some lunch from one of our food booths, which offer a variety of items such as fresh cut fries, hamburgers, homemade pies and much more! Throughout the day, there are a variety of fun children games to check out. Midnight Blue band and John Leader will play in the entertainment tent all afternoon. Also, be sure to visit the very popular Society of Energy Professionals Agricultural Education Tent with demos, displays, animals, etc and all surrounding the fair theme of sunflowers and sunshine. Kids can enter the classic competitions- decorated bike show, pet show, frog jumping contest and tractor pull! To end off an amazing day at the fair, attend our scrumptious BBQ Beef Supper inside the Palace! Buy tickets from Agricultural Society Members leading up to the fair, or at the Secretary’s Trailer on Fair Day.
This is sure to be an action packed event, so make sure to come down to Rotary Park on Sunday September 13th! As always, if you are looking for more information, pick up an Exhibitor Prize List at Paisley freshmart, or visit our website at www.paisleyfair.ca. See you there, under sunflowers and sunshine!
