In Attendance: Alicia Gibbons, Karen Kimpel, Gail Fullerton, Mary-Gail Johnston, Melissa Kanmacher, Erica MacNamara and guest, Danielle Mulasmajic of Tourist Town Solutions
The meeting started at 7:35 pm with the introduction of Danielle by Mary-Gail Johnston. Danielle explained how Tourist Town Solutions works to the benefit of towns and individual businesses in those towns by linking their information to all of the other partners in the network. (Kincardine, Saugeen Shores, Wiarton, Sauble Beach, Explore the Bruce, the Bruce Power Economic Development group to name only some. There is no cost to the village to join. Individual businesses pay $20/month for an enhanced listing.
It was moved by Mary-Gail and seconded by Alicia that Paisley Chamber sign on to the Tourist Town Solutions network. Motion approved. The chamber will be considering if and how we can help the member businesses cover their cost of an enhanced listing. A sub committee composed of Melissa Kanmacher, Karen Kimpel and Mary-Gail Johnston will meet with Danielle and Paisley Village website designer, Jennifer Cooper to move the commitment forward.
A motion to accept the Jan. 24, 2017 minutes as read was moved by Karen and seconded by Melissa. Motion approved.
A treasurer’s report sent by Craig Budreau was read by Melissa Kanmacher.
Mary Ellen Budreau , coordinator of the Santa Claus parade, has announced that she will not be taking on this role in future parades. Mary-Gail has offered to take on the role of parade coordinator for 2017 if nobody else steps forward.
Jo-Anne Buhr will meet with Mary-Gail to review her notes and ideas for the Gingerbread House competition. At this time, Jo-Anne is non-committal regarding her role as coordinator for 2017.
Alicia Gibbons reported that she was pleased with the 2016 Late Night Shop and has agreed to coordinate the 2017 Late Night Shop and Social on Friday, Nov.17.
It was decided that it would be best to postpone elections and the 2017 chamber membership drive until after the April decision as to the future of Paisley Central School has been made. It was also suggested that we reconsider the benefits of a chamber membership and what the mandate of the chamber should be.
Mary-Gail is to meet with Craig Budreau to determine his opinion as to whether or not the role of editor of the Paisley Advocate newspaper could effectively be filled by a small team of individuals working together or whether he would advise that the chamber offer to pay somebody to assume the role.
