Minutes of the April 24, 2018 Paisley & District Chamber of Commerce Meeting
Venue: Natures Millworks Time: 7:30 pm
In attendance: Paul Crysler, Helen Crysler, Mary- Gail Johnston, Karen Kimpel, Alicia Mariano, Dale Buhr, Jo-Anne Buhr,
Sarah Pederson, Wendy Liddle, David Salter, Joyce Craddock, Elizabeth Carter, Rosanna Ciavagla, Ev Durk.
Family day event review: Sarah reported that it was a huge success. Over 150 meals served by the Paisley Blues Fest volunteers, and over 200 attendees. It was fabulous! Great job Sarah!
Advocate: Overall, things are going very well, highly successful transition to our new editor Joyce. Joyce reported that there was some negative feedback, but more positive. She is researching the current status of hunting at the Saugeen Bluffs. It was suggested that whether it is allowed or not, signs should be posted to inform people. There was some confusion about the postal billing, and that is now all sorted out. Good work Joyce and all volunteers.
Website: Some businesses from out of town (Brampton, Mississauga) have been using our free business listings. We have to notify Jen Cooper if we notice these kinds of inappropriate content, or change the ability for businesses to upload our own content. This may be bot driven. We discussed having 2 tiers – one for members, including business name, phone, website, contact, images and description, and a 2nd for non-members to include only name and phone #. It was generally felt that we need more content, and a committee will be formed to add all businesses name and phone # for now. Karen, Mary-Gail, Sarah, Joyce and Wendy will meet at Wendy’s house on May 7 at 7PM to go over our whole website, page by page, to review and suggest changes. All input is welcome, please feel free to voice your opinion on this important public face of the village of Paisley.
We need more current information from service groups, sports and recreation, events, etc.
Karen moved, Paul 2nd, that there should be 2 tiers, with non-members allowed name and phone #, and members get photos, website link, etc. Motion passed.
The meeting ended early, followed by social time. Thank you Helen and Paul, for your hospitality!
