Venue: Joyce Craddock’s house Time: 7:30 pm
In attendance: Mary- Gail Johnston, Karen Kimpel, Alicia Mariano, Dale Buhr, Jo-Anne Buhr, Jennifer Harris,

Dale moved, Mary-Gail 2nd to accept March and April minutes, motion carried.
Treasurers Report: $5417.16 in general account, $1415.50 in Advocate account, $6832.66 total.
Dale reported that the Chamber currently has two fiscal year ends – one on Sept. 30, another on Dec. 31. He suggested that we start only having the Dec. 31 year end. There were no objections. This year the chamber shows a loss of $2168.95. Dale pointed out that we had two one-time expenses that were exceptional: the Saugie costume and the photo board. We also paid additional website expenses for the new mobile-friendly site. These extra costs explain the loss. Unaudited income statement attached.
Artists on the River would like an update on registration to confirm budget and to promote the artists that are coming.
Website: Karen moved, Mary-Gail 2nd that we pay Jen Cooper $39 US for a plug-in to have 2-tier listings on the website.
The website committee reviewed the minutes of May 7 (attached).
Chess boards: To be put in the Town square on picnic tables. We need 4 plastic table cloths, it was suggested that they should be “guitar blue.” We need volunteers to supervise the Town square boards for Blues Fest weekend on Saturday afternoon from 12-3. (Blues for Youth will be happening in the Legion/Town Hall from 1-5. Joyce volunteered. Thank you Joyce.
Moved by Dale, Sarah 2nd that chess and checkers pieces be purchased to a maximum of $50. Joyce might sell cold drinks to recover some of this money. Melissa will buy them
Blues Fest: Moved by Dale, 2nd by Jo-Anne that Saugie be paid to be around the village this weekend. The motion was extended to include the North Canoe Race, Artists on the River, and the Gran Fondo race. Motion carried.
Sarah suggested a village-wide yard sale on June 2. Dale will talk to the Legion about this.
Dale proposed changing membership dues. He felt that it shouldn’t be free for the first year, because these members often do not become regular members when they have to pay full price in year 2. He suggested that year 1 could be ½ price in year one instead, to avoid the year 2 sticker shock. No motion was made, but everyone should think about this.
A sticker and package should be created to give each member. It was suggested that our new economic development officer could help us with this.
David Salter sent a message via Mary-Gail that businesses should give some thought to staying open late on Friday nights. The discussion also brought up encouraging businesses to be open on Sunday. This topic has been visited before, but it might be a good time to review. The traffic through town would definitely indicate that the tourists are here!
Motion to adjourn by Mary-Gail, Jo-Anne 2nd.
Next meeting: June 19 at the Cowan Canoe mill.
