The candidate’s article has now been received and will be included in the October issue of the Advocate.”
Julia, Jim, Judy, Melissa Klerks, Asha, Cody and Amanda left the meeting.
Jen moved, Sarah 2nd tht the minutes of August meeting be accepted.
No treasurer’s report, Dale is away.
New business: Arran-Elderslie is applying for a grant to update the municipal website, and asked if we would write a letter of support. Karen will write. Karen moved, Jen 2nd, all in favour.
Spruce the Bruce – Ken Cormack will be working with Paul McGrath on the GIS (Global Information System) app for Paisley. This is an interactive map to include our murals, historical walk, jail cell, trestle bridge, etc. We will be looking for grants for this undertaking. The next STB meeting/dinner will update everyone. Other business will include the bridge painting and turtle installations. For future projects we will need to work on our social media impact, who was reached, and insights.
Paisley Events vs. Chamber Events – Paisley Events have historically included the JCP (Job Creation Program) for our 140th – 15 events that year from May to the Santa Claus parade. After that, Max Johnston created Paisley Events. More recently events have been divided, and we need to update how Artists on the River, Blues Fest, etc. will continue to be planned and categorized. It was suggested that Max be invited to a future meeting to review.
Skate board park was discussed Morgan and Jessie Graham are spearheading the refurbishment.
Old business: Late night shop – Nov. 23rd – Alicia Gibbons, Wes and Lynsey will organize.
Santa Claus Parade – Nov. 30th – Candace updated us that Mary-Gail has been booking most bands, twirlers, arena. The committee is redoing the map for floats. New ideas include roasting chestnuts and hot cider. Judges and prizes are being reviewed, it was suggested that trophies might not be the prizes this year. A Christmas tree lighting before the parade with the glee club performing seemed like a popular suggestion.
Election nomination forms for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer will be given out at the next meeting. We will also be looking to define the various committees including: fundraising, website, parade, Artists on the River, late night shop, Art in Action etc.
Motion to adjourn by Karen, Sarah 2nd.
Next meeting Oct. 16 at the Paisley Legion/Town Hall 7:30 PM
